About Us

Friends of the PBC Foundation is a U.S. nonprofit dedicated to supporting individuals living with primary biliary cholangitis (PBC). We provide patient‑centered education, advocacy, and community resources inspired by the PBC Foundation. Our mission is to improve quality of life, advance awareness, and strengthen access to timely, equitable care for all PBC patients nationwide.

Friends of the PBC Foundation is a patient‑centered nonprofit committed to improving the lives of people across the United States living with primary biliary cholangitis (PBC). Inspired by the groundbreaking work of the PBC Foundation in the United Kingdom, we were founded to fill a critical gap in support, education, and advocacy for the more than 100,000 Americans affected by this rare autoimmune liver disease.

PBC is a chronic, progressive condition that damages the bile ducts and can lead to cirrhosis, liver failure, and the need for transplantation. Patients often face debilitating symptoms such as severe itch and overwhelming fatigue —symptoms that can make daily life emotionally and physically challenging. At Friends of the PBC Foundation, we believe no one should shoulder those challenges alone.

Our mission is to stand beside every patient by offering compassionate guidance, evidence‑based resources, and a strong, understanding community. We collaborate with healthcare professionals, researchers, and advocacy partners to advance earlier diagnosis, improve treatment access, and support ongoing breakthroughs in PBC care.

Together, we are building a future where every person with PBC feels supported, empowered, and hopeful—every step of the way.
